Interview

  • First and foremost – whom can you name as the best photographer in Palma, Spain? :)

The best photographer for anybody is someone who has a similar vision.

  • Are you photogenic?

Well, yes and no, so I get it when someone is not exactly photogenical, but could still look amazing in pictures!

  • How did you get in the photography industry?

I was doing mainly family and couples photography when a Lithuania wedding photographer/ planner who just had a baby approached me about taking on about 20 of her elopement weddings over just around two months.

  • What are the most important components of a good photo in your opinion?

To me it's mainly about the light, the timeless value and a desired emotion.

  • Do you love traveling?

    LOVE IT!

  • What do you like most about your profession?

Knowing that I am creating meaningful memories for people.

  • What do you like least about your profession?

Midday wedding ceremonies in bright Mallorcan sun! )

  • What will be the future of photography?

It depends on what weddings will be like in the future :)

  • What is special in the photography genre you specialise at?

As a photographer you have very little control over anything apart from yourself and your equipment.

  • How do you handle criticism?

I'd love to say I don't care, but I do, I'd also love to say I learn from it and move on! )

  • Are there any trends in photography?

Of course, almost like in fashion!

  • What should be the criteria for a customer to choose a photographer?

Any photographer reflects a little bit of himself in his/her work, so notice what they are looking for and make sure that's what you want to see.

  • What things are to be avoided when shooting?

Everything depends on the circumstances, different weddings involve different people and cultures, what is acceptable varies, but I guess being disrespectful in either how you portray the people or your behaviour is never acceptable.

  • What details that usually pass unnoticed can a photographer notice?

So many little things people have no time for during the wedding!

  • What influences the value of a photo? What are its elements?

To me a photo needs to carry a meaning, a purpose, then in my opinion it's as valuable as the meaning.

  • What person can be the symbol of the 21st century in your opinion?

It's got to be Apple for me )))

  • Who do you want to take photos of?

I don't have anybody specific in mind, apart from the people I know and love.

  • Do you have any professional taboos?

Warning the bride before the wedding, that if she feels lost or nervous and does not know what to do, she has to smile, so much for a genuine emotion!)

  • Who would you like to shoot with?

Oh so many people, everybody has such a different view on things!

  • What do you worry about, and why?

No, to me worry is related to fear and extensive fear is a lack of trust and I am always looking to grow in my trust.

  • What is the most impressive moment in your life?

Moving countries, having children, finding your true self.

  • If you were a cartoon, book or movie character, who would you be and why?

I am quite positive about the good hearted Fiona in Shrek who also turns out stunning in the end)

  • Who inspires you in your life and why?

    My kids

  • How do you define success? How do you measure it?

Living a comfortable life by doing what you love.

  • Would you rather be liked or respected?

I guess if I had to choose I'd go for respected, as in photography I'd go for creating something that speaks to me over something that I think speaks to other people.

  • What is the biggest mistake you have ever made at work?

Choice of career, years ago when I trained to be a certified accountant.

  • When you're going to travel, what do you take with you and why?

I love travelling alone, taking only my camera with me, travelling is a thing that inspires my creativity and I need to do it alone to fully benefit from it.

  • Is there anything among your gadgets that you wish you haven't bought? Why?

I guess my flashes and stands for when I thought I'd end up shooting real estate )

  • How do you educate yourself to take better pictures?

I take classes, I try new things, I have a vision that I work towards and I try and stay inspired.

  • Whose work has influenced you most as a photographer?

So many, Kuliev definitely is a big one there!

  • What is the one thing you wish you knew when you started taking photos?

    You should never stop learning!

  • What do you want to say with your photographs?

There is happiness in this moment and we need to be able to see it to experience it.

  • What motivates you to continue taking pictures?

Why would I want to stop?

  • Should your parents have been more or less strict?

I am who I am because of how it was, I don't know if I like the theme of any kinds of regrets!

  • If you could go back in time, what would you do differently?

Back to the topic of regrets!)

  • What about life on other planets?

As in God? To me it's very obvious.

  • Who are your heroes?

My parents, because I know all about them and how they really are and I still admire them!

  • Who do you have no respect for?

I teach my kids that liars are not respectful to themselves or others, so I guess, technically, they don't deserve respect.

  • What do you do in your spare time?

Travelling, reading, on the beach with my twin boys.

  • What's the side of you that the public never sees?

The fact that I could happily spend a week alone and not miss anybody that much! )))

  • When are you completely satisfied with your work?

The truth is always and never, I always try to do the best I can at the time, but that's rarely 100% perfect in my mind!

  • Do you believe in the traditional roles for men and women?

Yes, do you believe only women can carry and give birth to babies? )

  • Do you make friends easily?

    Yes and no.

  • Where would you like to live?

I love it where I am now.

  • What's the stupidest thing you've ever agreed to do?

Shall I go for the real silliest thing or just something to laugh about?

  • Is there life after marriage?

Hahaha, I always hope for it!

  • Do you have a favourite joke? Tell us.

    I love listening to jokes!

  • Do you like dogs or cats?

    Children

  • Who or what do you hate?

    Yes, obviously, evil.

  • The best thing in life is:

    God!

  • The most annoying thing in life is:

All the troubles we have to face.

  • Is there anything around you that you would like to change?

The mess I make around me?)

  • What would you like to change in yourself?

    I'd add more peace.

  • What would you like to change in the world?

The way women don't know their true value.

  • Can you give a few tips for photographers who are just starting out?

Go out and shoot street photography, it's basically the same thing!

  • If aliens come to the Earth and you are the first person they meet, what will you tell them?

    Mmm, hi! (with a wave)

  • If you are called to shoot a movie, what genre will it be?

    Romance, of course!

  • Tomorrow I will go and do...

    It's a wedding day!
