The tradition of Krokant at Croatian weddings involves the ceremonial breaking of a sculpted Krokant (a sweet, brittle confection) for good luck, a practice that was historically preserved by seamen's wives and involves guests breaking the confection during the celebration. The breaking is done with a sword, and the groom and bride participate to break the Krokant into pieces, symbolizing increased luck for the couple. More pieces, more luck. ;)
