Fiesole, in the hill overlooking Florence, a 'surprise' wedding

When the mother of the bride heard the word 'marriage' she started looking around thinking she didn't understand. But the reaction of all those present was the same. Even the guests, including the sister who in the meantime had been called to be a wedding witness, knew nothing about it and the surprise was general.Guests were invited to celebrate the baptism of the 'newcomer'. Something quick and informal on a winter afternoon, a sort of snack / dinner among a small group of friends. And instead, unbeknownst to everyone (I knew it as a photographer for several months), they decided to combine the two and also celebrate their marriage.Incredibly, they managed to keep the secret thing up to the altar when Don Roberto, the officiating prelate and pastor of the church of Santa Maria Primerana in Fiesole, called the sister of the bride who, not being the godmother, beckons the priest not to be her . Instead Don Roberto insists and, when the first child of the couple shows up with wedding rings and begins to read the marriage ritual, everyone understands what is happening.The groom's and bride's parents pleasantly astonished, incredulous but really happy.It was a beautiful day with some guests who jokingly complained about the 'wrong' dress and the informal shoes. But it was all very nice. Without those pomps that are sometimes too ostentatious and those fashion shows of the guests. Even the reception, held in the Villa Aurora always in Fiesole a few steps from the church, was in line with the choice: a standing aperitif, a buffet of some first and warm baked pizza. No dancing or after dinner. Cut the pies and everyone at home to enjoy a Saturday night with the family.
