Gotland Bröllop

Swedish/American destination wedding in gorgeous Visby, GotlandMost of the time when I get booked as a wedding photographer, I have the pleasure to meet my couples before the wedding. But this wedding was a destination wedding for Ossian and Dana. Funny enough they are both Swedes who met at a Swedish language group in California, but Ossian grew up in beautiful Visby. They both now life and work in sunny California and brought home their friends and family from Sweden and the USA to celebrate their wedding on Gotland.I always are extra excited when I get to photograph a wedding on Gotland. Just like Mallorca is my favourite island in Europe, Gotland is certainly my favourite island in Sweden. Well, some greek islands also hold a special place in my heard and so does my former home, Bermuda. The laid back atmosphere on islands gets me already when I walk off the ferry. Gotland is no exception. With so many stunning places to visit, so many outstanding restaurants and the walled city of Visby with so many years of history to discover, it truly holds something for everybody.Ossian’s family lives right across the beach in Visby and that is where the rehearsal dinner was held in a relaxed garden party style the night before the wedding. This is when I met Ossian and Dana for the first time, after many emails and Skype calls. Their welcoming, warm attitude made me look forward to their wedding day even more.Dana got ready at the Hotel Kalk where I started shooting this wedding, before heading to Breda Blick Hotel where Ossian and his groomsmen were preparing. The weather was fantastic as we headed for Domkyrkan, a stunning Church. After a beautiful ceremony we walked the old town and shot portraits by the beach, in little alley ways, in front of gorgeous doors ( I have a thing for doors, as you might know). The reception was held at St. Nicolai ruin and catered by MatMuren. A fantastic combination. As everything is so close in Visby we got to sneak out for golden hour and shoot a few portraits before the cake was served. A short time being away from your guests, but so highly recommend for the glorious light and quite moment for the two of you.Gratis, Ossian and Dana. Your wedding was just beautiful.
