The Vernon Backyard Wedding

Yesterday, I had the absolute honor of photographing Evelyn and Tanner’s wedding, and let me tell you, it was a day bursting with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. These two poured their hearts into every detail, and it showed in every second of their celebration.
The day kicked off bright and early at their side-by-side homes, affectionately dubbed the “Harry Potter house.” From the outside, it looks unassuming, but step inside, and it’s like walking into a spacious, cozy wonderland. Evelyn and Tanner got ready in their respective spaces, the air buzzing with excitement and a few happy nerves. Once they were all dolled up, we made the short trek to BX Park for their first look. The moment they laid eyes on each other, time seemed to stop. There were tears, soft smiles, and a quiet kind of joy that said everything without words. Right there, beside the roaring water, they exchanged their vows—words dotted with laughter and a few more tears, sealing their promises in the most heartfelt way.
The bridal party joined us next, and we decided to venture down to the waterfall for some fun, stylized shots. The group was all in, striking poses and bringing their A-game, with the cascading water as the perfect backdrop. After nailing those shots, we headed back to the Harry Potter house for the main event: a backyard wedding that was nothing short of breathtaking.
Their backyard was transformed into a dreamy wonderland. A long, winding table stretched out for all 40 guests, adorned with the kind of decor that made everyone stop and stare. It was elegant, intimate, and so very them. The ceremony itself was pure magic. The officiant shared the story of how Evelyn and Tanner met at a New Year’s party, their slow-burn connection eventually sparking into a love that felt inevitable. When Tanner dipped Evelyn for their first kiss as husband and wife, the crowd roared, and as they ran up the aisle, confetti rained down like something out of a movie.
What followed was a party for the ages. The dance floor was alive with energy, and I don’t think anyone sat still for long. After an incredible dinner, I noticed the rain that had been teasing us all day finally let up, revealing a jaw-dropping sunset. Seizing the moment, we piled into cars and raced to the top of the mountain for some golden-hour photos. The sky was on fire, and Evelyn and Tanner looked like they belonged in a painting. Those shots? Pure gold.
Back at the reception, the night ended with a showstopper: guests lined up with sparklers, forming a glowing arch for the newlyweds to walk through. In the middle of it all, Tanner pulled Evelyn in for the kind of passionate kiss that makes your heart skip a beat. The cheers from the crowd were deafening, and the love in the air was electric.
