Puerto Rico: La Concha Resort Destination Wedding

This incredibly intelligent (and adorable) pair of Neurologists had an elegant beach ceremony at La Concha Resort, followed by a reception at the iconic La Perla in the Condado neighborhood of San Juan. The groom is originally from Puerto Rico, so it made perfect sense to have their destination wedding here on the island. They were looking for a photographer who could tell the story of the day in a natural, unforced way. I always encourage my couples to just enjoy the day, be present and have fun. Weddings are naturally filled with photogenic moments. There's no need to devote a ton of time for elaborate portrait production setups. A good documentary photographer will be able to anticipate these moments and be ready to capture them in an artistic way.I met up earlier in the week with the couple for a short portrait session in Old San Juan and hung out for a beer afterwards. If there's time permitting, getting to meet each other before the wedding is always a good idea. We were able to capture some of the architecture, history, and 'feel' of Puerto Rico by adding on this mini-session.
