Interview

  • First and foremost – whom can you name as the best photographer in Leicester, United Kingdom? :)

I would say Ravi Lakhani is up there with the best in Leicester. A lot of great photographers to choose from.

  • Are you photogenic?

Depends how many glasses of wine I have had...

  • How did you get in the photography industry?

11 years ago when I met a nightclub photographer on my first night out in Leicester. I took a huge interest in what he does and not long after bought a camera myself. I nagged and nagged him for weeks to help him on one of the nights he shoots until he let me. Not long after I landed myself my own job at a different club.

  • What are the most important components of a good photo in your opinion?

I always seem to look for straight lines and symmetrical compositions. Even if I'm taking candids. I also LOVE a good crop :D

  • Do you love traveling?

I LOVE travelling. I was lucky enough to travel the world as a filmmaker for MTV for 5 and a half years.

  • What do you like most about your profession?

I have been very lucky to never have had a 'real' 9-5 Job. I love that every job I do has its own unique challenge. I love getting to know a couple deeper than just a 'booking' which I find helps me a great deal when photographing their wedding day.

  • What do you like least about your profession?

    Coronavirus.

  • What will be the future of photography?

I'm not a huge fan of them yet but I do feel like mirrorless cameras will start to take over. Bang for buck mirrorless cameras are leaving the DSLR's behind in terms of specs and stats. But at the end of the day, like everyone says... It's about who's about the camera.

  • What is special in the photography genre you specialise at?

The emotional connection between the stories/photos I take and the Bride & Groom. I also love getting to know the guests. Oh and you will probably catch me on the dance floor at some point in the night...

  • How do you handle criticism?
