Interview

  • First and foremost – whom can you name as the best photographer in Naples, Italy? :)

I don't think I have the answer to this question. Every photographer has a different point of view, the beauty of this world is that you can learn something from everyone.

  • Are you photogenic?

The only two people who said I'm beautiful are my mother and James Blunt.

  • How did you get in the photography industry?

I started shooting pictures in 2009, I've been involved in music production for years and then in 2012 I started shooting weddings. I started as a second shooter for a friend and then little by little I built my own business.

  • What are the most important components of a good photo in your opinion?

    The moment between two moments.

  • Do you love traveling?

I travel a lot, from the moment I wake up in the morning until I go to bed, every day. It doesn't matter if I use my car, a train, a plane or my mind. It's a lifetime trip.

  • What do you like most about your profession?

Being surrounded by happiness and nice people. The connection. Being together. The humanity needs to stay together and talk, touch, see, hear.

  • What do you like least about your profession?

Well I guess there's no perfect job in this world :)

  • What will be the future of photography?

    Future doesn't exist (yet).

  • What is special in the photography genre you specialise at?

There's nothing special about wedding photography. People make it special.

  • How do you handle criticism?

I take everything I can to improve my skills.
Sometimes I kidnap children and burn cars.
(Should I say I'm being ironic?)

  • Are there any trends in photography?

It's a complicated business, growing year by year, changing forms constantly.

  • What should be the criteria for a customer to choose a photographer?

Being emotionally involved in his/her pictures. Nothing else.

  • What things are to be avoided when shooting?

    Being a jerk, I think.

  • What details that usually pass unnoticed can a photographer notice?

An apparently meaningless moment can be captured forever with one click and being remembered for the rest of the life.

  • What influences the value of a photo? What are its elements?

It's all about what people feel when they see that picture.

  • What person can be the symbol of the 21st century in your opinion?

Not me for sure, I'm still working on it...

  • Who do you want to shoot?

    Myself.

  • Do you have any professional taboos?

    I don't touch wedding dresses.

  • Who would you like to shoot with?

    Whoever wants to :)

  • What do you worry about, and why?

I'm a restless mind. There's no reason for it and it took me years to understand it. I accepted it and I don't know why I'm like this. I'm worried about a lot of things every day, personal and in general about our future as human beings.

  • What is the most impressive moment in your life?

When I lose everything and I started to know myself.

  • If you were a cartoon, book or movie character, who would you be and why?

    The little Prince, of course!
Living on an asteroid, in the outer space, watching stars all the time, dreaming, being free...

  • Who inspires you in your life and why?

I have my grandfather's name. He has been the most influential person in my life. If I could have a time machine, I would like to go back when he was still on this earth and say him "look what I've become".

  • How do you define success? How do you measure it?

Being a successful person is useless if you don't have respect for yourself and other people. So I can say that the successful person is the one who is also respectful and respected.

  • Would you rather be liked or respected?

    Read the previous one :)

  • What is the biggest mistake you have ever made at work?

    Being naive.

  • When you're going to travel, what do you take with you and why?

A book, my compact camera and my diary for sure.
Just because I need to have time for myself.

  • Is there anything that you wish you hadn't bought among the gadgets that you own? Why?

I'm a left-handed person and I bought this rechargeable pen from moleskine, which is beautiful but it's a gel ink pen so everytime I write I get my diary, my hand and sometimes my clothes dirty.

  • How do you educate yourself to take better pictures?

I go to seminars, I participate to conventions and other workshops, I watch movies and tv series, I read, I experience life.

  • Whose work has influenced you most as a photographer?

My favorite wedding photographer right now is Giuseppe Marano, from Sicily.

  • What is the one thing you wish you knew when you started taking photos?

    "Cameras are expensive."

  • What do you want to say with your photographs?

I just want to tell a story in my way. I know pictures tell at the same time what we see and what we have inside. With my pictures I hope to know myself better than now.

  • What motivates you to continue taking pictures?

    I'm curious.

  • Should your parents have been more or less strict?

My parents are not perfect, their love made me the person I am just as their mistakes.
Oh, and they are rock 'n' roll too.

  • If you could go back in time, what would you do differently?

    I wouldn't change anything.

  • What about life on other planets?

I don't know what to think about the life on THIS planet.

  • Who are your heroes?

    My father is my hero.

  • Who do you have no respect for?

    False people above all.

  • What do you do in your spare time?

Reading, writing, having good time with my friends.

  • What's the side of you that the public never sees?

I am constantly divided in two different and opposite ways: if people see me happy, they don't see I could be sad, if they see me talking a lot, they don't know I would be silent instead.

  • When are you completely satisfied with your work?

When I know I could stop time at least in one picture.

  • Do you believe in the traditional roles for men and women?

Roles? Where we are going we don't need... roles!

  • Do you make friends easily?

It depends, sometimes I'm very quick to empathize with people, other times it can take even years.

  • Where would you like to live?

    Wherever there's beauty around me.
But if I have to pick one, Amsterdam would be a choise.

  • The best thing in life is:

    Keep dreaming.

  • The most annoying thing in life is:

    Stop dreaming.

  • Is there anything around you that you would like to change?

My room is painted in a very ugly green.

  • What would you like to change in yourself?

Sometimes I use irony to avoid questions.

  • What would you like to change in the world?

I would erase every kind of racism.

  • Can you give a few tips for photographers who are just starting out?

    Get paid!

  • If aliens come to the Earth and you are the first person they meet, what will you tell them?

    "hello!"

  • If you are called to shoot a movie, what genre will it be?

    sci-fi or thriller, or drama.

  • Tomorrow I will go and do...

    ...a wedding!
