Sherry’s and Hasan’s families came to Canada from the Pakistan. One day Sherry called me asking if I can photoshoot her traditional pakistani engagement ceremony. Before meeting her I didn’t know a lot about Pakistani engagement traditions. But when I saw pictures from the ceremony online doing my research, I knew that I HAVE TO do this pictures! I guess every wedding photographer dreams about this opportunity.The ceremony can be large or small, depending on the size of the family, but usually only close family members are present. Sherry has also invited her best friend and her family. Pakistani engagement formal ceremony starts with rings exchange between the couple. Traditionally the rings are placed on the bride’s finger by the groom’s mother or sister, and vice versa, but newer generations exchange the rings between the would-be bride and the groom. Families also give each other other jewellery and gifts, elderly bless the couple and decide on the marriage day.As you can see, Sherry and her family were dressed up with a beautiful, colorful traditional clothes. She had her hair and also a make-up done by professionals, so we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to make more pictures than just from the ceremony. For the engagement photo shoot we picked Guild Park and Gardens in Scarborough.I can’t find words how beautiful Sherry looked. Can’t wait to photo shoot her wedding on the summertime. Enjoy!
