Karleigh and Tyler - Elopement

Tyler and Karleigh met during their Freshman year at Springfield College. The two immediately became best friends, and started dating about a year later! After dating for almost 8 years, Tyler decided it was time to pop the question! Tyler is originally from Hawaii and Karleigh is from Maine, but he somehow was able to get both of their families together at Karleigh’s favorite place, Portland Head Light, for the big moment in July of 2019! Fast forward a year, their big wedding was to happen on July 4th, but was delayed thanks to COVID-19 and the crisis still taking atoll on the country, but that didn’t delay their plans of being married.Karleigh and Tyler had their mini wedding ceremony Saturday, June 27 in their townhome in Ashland, Massachusetts. What was a planned outdoor ceremony, quickly turned into an indoor ceremony thanks to the rain. Everyone in attendance was supportive and joyful the two were getting married and didn’t matter where, as long as it was surrounded by the best people with them. Both being so far away from family, thanks to technology and Zoom, everyone was able to witness the nuptials take place through the video service. Their wedding planner, Jenny Richard of All Aboard Event Planning, became their officiant just for the day. There were many special moments throughout the day, but one in particular were the lei’s sent over from Hawaii by Tyler’s mom. Having a piece of home is always special, especially if it is incorporated into a wedding day. After the ceremony, Tyler’s uncle did a traditional bonzai toast to the couple. In Hawaii it is common for a bonzai toast to take place. There are two bonzai toasts that are typically given. The toast recited for their wedding was “Shinro shimpu, banzai” which translates to long life and happiness to the bride and groom. It was such a beautiful moment that I will never forget. Love when traditions are added to the story of the wedding day. After the toast and celebration, the couple and I went outside for some formal portraits to commemorate their day. Of course a little champagne pop, paint powder that you would find at color runs were thrown thanks to their friends, and of course some group photos with their pup. Though it rained, it couldn’t have been a better day to get married. Surrounded by friends and family, physically and virtually.
