How much value do some photographs have?We fly for an hour and a half from our beloved Barranquilla to Bogota. Then, we took a bus that would take us along an hour and a half road to our destination. The landscape, so different from the north coast of Colombia, crosses the eastern mountain range through a series of bridges and tunnels, which are not as majestic as the natural landscape itself, whose greenery impresses those of us who are accustomed to seeing a drier landscape with less TreesFinally Villavicencio – called the door of the plains – welcomes us, with the largest plains in all of Colombia, the delicious smell of the “mamona” and the sound of the harp in the music. As if each trip was the first time, the excitement shelters us … a new story to tell awaits for us. But nostalgia also accompanies us: it was there in Villavicencio where our history began and where we have the memory of those who are no longer with us.Gina and Javier (and their whole family), meanwhile, are not from these lands either. But like us, they found in Villavicencio a small land where they built many of their memories and the most beautiful moments they have had. Celebrating in Villavicencio meant not only having a beautiful place for their wedding, but an opportunity to have with them the presence of the beloved Colonel Díaz, the father of Gina who now lives in the presence of the Lord, but many of us remember for his charisma , his joy and those almost endless parties of Christmas and New Year, right there in Villavicencio, when we had to turn off the music so that we left, at 6 in the morning, after dancing almost literally any kind of music and not have already feet to continue.When we spoke with Gina about covering her marriage, we understood the value that photography has for her. It is that value that gives the absence of someone. It is the incalculable value of being able to see every detail of that person in a vivid way again. It is the value of being able to refresh your own memory that remembers moments, but forgets details … How much value does a photograph have? How far we would have to travel no longer mattered.This work was not just about making beautiful photos for a couple who not only had all the attitude of the world, happiness and love one for the other (of those that you sigh when you see it!). It was about to materialize these memories and make present those who are only spiritually. There they are, in the light of the candles and in the photos we have of them. And that is invaluable … and that fills us with joy.Thanks Gina, Javier and Dennys for welcoming us again and letting us know that we are part of this family! Let this post be a reason to celebrate the memory of those we love, who live in heaven and who unite us in the same feeling. We wish continue to be an extended family, as it was many years ago when I was a child, when we had to take turns playing Nintendo, with Angela, with Andrés and with all those who were part of those little stories that today make us what we are
