Destination Wedding in Seattle

We had a lovely two-week pause from photographing weddings, which we used to wrap up post-production on past weddings and do a whole lotta prep work for upcoming weddings (okay, and maybe we fit a brewery or two in there). And then, precisely a day after delivering the final gallery from our first stretch of weddings, we packed up and drove 1300 miles for Suki and Derek’s Seattle wedding. It’s no secret that Jesse and I love to travel, so when Suki and Derek first reached out to us about shooting their wedding in Seattle, we jumped at the chance. Seattle is one of our favorite spots in the US and we’ve been hoping to book a wedding there for a while now.Once we made it into town, we spent the next day prepping for the wedding. We drove our routes, scoped out parking situations, planned the first look, scoped out portrait locations, tried out poses (got strange looks from tourists), familiarized ourselves with the ferry process, and attended the wedding rehearsal. Our hard work paid off with one of the most relaxing wedding day shoots we’ve ever had – all the more amazing because we’ve never had to incorporate a ferry! From the hair and makeup prep for the ladies, through the first look, the ceremony and the dance party, Suki and Derek were relaxed and happy beyond words. And now, after almost 3000 miles, 43 hours in the car, six hours of scouting, 14 hours of shooting, four ferry rides and four breweries later, we’re back in Colorado and hitting the ground running.
