A little wedding on Big Sand!

I love an outdoor wedding and in Scotland we can hold a ceremony anywhere! So when Ute and Oktay, from Germany, asked if I could photograph their wedding on Big Sand, Gairloch, in the far north-west Highlands of Scotland, I jumped at the chance. This was a small affair with just 16 guests and a registrar on the beach. Given that this was October in Scotland we had remarkable weather with only a brief light shower and no wind – very lucky. We walked down to the beach through the local caravan park and held the ceremony just past the dunes. Ute had on her white wedding wellies, signed by all the guests, and Oktay even carried her over the 'threshold' of the beach. After some coffee and cake we popped down to the shores of Loch Maree for a some couple shots to complete the day.Just over a week later and I had delivered the whole wedding back to them and got this lovely response:‘Wow! How cool and wonderful pics they are. So happy, and you were so quick. We didn’t expect them to be done already. Thanks a lot for that. Such a cool mix, you really caught the beautiful surroundings, the relaxed atmosphere and the emotions of the day. Thank you very much again. We are glad having had you with us.’ Ute
