Fall Wedding at Red Rocks

It’s fairly common for Jesse and I to scout a wedding venue and find entirely too many locations for photos. It’s far less common to find couples who are just as excited as we are to take a ton of photos in these cool locations. Luckily, those couples tend to find their way to us, like Sylvia and Brandon did for their Willow Ridge Manor wedding.Willow Ridge Manor is tucked just behind the first set of foothills to the Rockies. It’s a colonial style mansion reminiscent of the East Coast, but surrounded by the iconic red rocks that Denver concert-goers know so well. In fact, that’s one of the reasons Sylvia and Brandon chose the venue. They met at a concert when Brandon used his best pickup line on Sylvia. Denver’s live music scene has played an important role in their relationship and they wanted to pay homage to it.So, naturally, we had to incorporate these massive formations into their photos. With the red rocks, the yellow fall leaves and the striking blue sky, we were able to capture all the things that gives the state the nickname of “Colorful Colorado.”The weather held out for their ceremony, but the temperature dropped rapidly during the reception. After a fast and furious dance party, courtesy of JM Hyatt, the couple was sent off into the night through a cheering crowd of their friends and family, all bravely bundled up against the cold. Post sendoff, we headed back to the red rock formations for a quick nighttime shoot before Sylvia and Brandon headed off to their after party. We wrapped up our day (and our wedding season) just as the rain/snow began.
