—With so many talented photographers it is almost impossible to single one photographer out. I’d like to think that we all have our own style and that this answer be best answered by the community of Standerton ;)

—Você é fotogénica(o)?

—I look so much better behind the camera!

—Como se iniciou na indústria da fotografia?

—With several years in photojournalism I have been fortunate to be exposed to different styles of photography. I have occasionally done the odd family/friend wedding, but it has only been for the last few months that I have honed all of my skills and began specializing in wedding photography.

—Em sua opinião, quais são os componentes mais importantes para uma boa fotografia?

—I’m sure there are thousand of things that makes a photo attractive, but keeping it relaxed and natural is the look and feel I tend to go for.

—Gosta de viajar?

—It depends who I am travelling with...

—O que mais gosta na sua profissão?

—I’m the editor of a small local newspaper in Standerton and freelance photographer. In both fields, highlighting and the capturing of special moments almost always ensures a smile on my face.

—O que menos gosta na sua profissão?

—When the inspiration thief comes knocking on my door.

—Qual será o futuro da fotografia?

—With the rise of the technological age, very drone-y I suppose.

—O que há de especial para si, no género de fotografia em que se especializou?

—For me working solo, way less time to get it right, lots of planning ahead of time and no redos....well not with the same bride or groom anyway.

—Como lida com as críticas?

—Take it on the chin and learn from it. How do you lift your standards if no one ever tells you about your flaws.

—Existem tendências na fotografia?

—Definitely, but they come and go. Emotions during a wedding will however always remain.

—Quais deveriam ser os critérios considerados pelo cliente na escolha de um fotógrafo?

—Make sure to do a background check. As a fairly new wedding photographer. I have heard too many people who expected way more from their photographer, but never sat down with him/her and got to meet them until the day of the wedding!

—O que não é permitido de todo ao fotografar?

—Low batteries, no spare memory cards.

—Que detalhes passam habitualmente despercebidos mas nos quais um fotógrafo repara?

—It all depends on the vision of the photographer and what priorities were set out by the bridal party beforehand.

—O que influencia o valor da foto? Quais são os seus elementos?

—I believe it should tell you the same story that you’ve heard so many times before, but not quite with the ending you expected. Hone all your skills and portray them all in one photo.

—O quem pretende fotografar?

—I like open-minded people who have seen your work and just want you to do you with a few pointers and requests of their own.

—Quem o inspira na sua vida e porquê?

—There is no one person that I look to for inspiration, there are several.

—Como define o sucesso? Como o afere?

—Success is being happy in all facets of your life, how do you measure it? Are you happy in all facets of your life?

—Gostaria mais de ser amado ou respeitado?

—Ideally both, but I’ll have to say the latter.

—Como aprende a tirar fotos melhores?

—Observe the trends, but try to be a trendsetter.

—Que trabalho mais o influenciou como fotógrafo?

—There are a lot of influential photographers on mywed, I like to draw inspiration from their images and apply my own style.

—Qual é a coisa que mais gostaria de ter sabido quando começou a fotografar?

—Editing! Now I’m stuck learning both at the same time.

—O que pretende transmitir com as suas fotos?

—That natural is a good look.

—O que o motiva a continuar a fotografar?

—That moment when you reflect on a shoot during post processing and you see what you’ve captured and you just know that the response will be one of gratitude and admiration.

—Quando é que fica completamente satisfeito com o seu trabalho?

—Once the client approves!

—Acredita nos papéis tradicionais reservados ao homem e à mulher?

—In the words of Bob Dylan: “Times they are a changing.”

—Faz amigos com facilidade?

—Not really, it takes me some time to open up.

—Existe vida depois do casamento?

—It all depends on who you decide to marry! I am married myself ;)

—Neither!

—As a beginner myself, follow other photographers and see what works. Don’t be too hard on yourself, but know you are capturing a special moment that does not grant any redos.
