  • First and foremost – whom can you name as the best photographer in Bucharest? :)

There are many very talented photographers in the city so it would be very hard and unfair for me to name one as being the best. Some are better on shooting portraits, others on the getting ready part, some are mastering the ceremony, while the cool ones rock on the party.

  • Are you photogenic?

I have a few good angles

  • How did you get in the photography industry?

For many years I have been a journalist and all my friends, assumed that if I have a pro camera I shroud do their weddings

  • What are the most important components of a good photo in your opinion?

Moment, angle, light and post edit. Usually. But, on a second thought, being at the right time at the right place makes all the difference

  • Do you love traveling?

Very much so. Excepting the Americas, I have been on all other continents

  • What do you like most about your profession?

No dull moments on this one :)

  • What do you like least about your profession?

Back pain. The complete gear bag is pretty heavy and I am a delicate flower

  • What will be the future of photography?

Nostradamus did not predict this one. But I can tell for sure what will never be, despite all the technology advancement: Using the videographer's footage frames as fine art wedding photography. Heard that one very recently out of a 23 yo guy. Realized that if he is so convinced about that, he has no future in media, so I restrained myself from any comment or debate.

  • What is special in the photography genre you specialise at?

the emotions, the story, the dramatics

  • How do you handle criticism?

Very well, in fact i trust critics more than the "like" button pressing ones. As I never make the same mistake twice, you'd better show it to me!

  • Are there any trends in photography?

As far as I could notice, the old school formalism is long gone and the creativity became the new standard

  • What should be the criteria for a customer to choose a photographer?

Good images are made from the heart so, their photographer should become their friend, not just a service provider

  • What things are to be avoided when shooting?

The artificial, forced poses and poorly handled flashes

  • What details that usually pass unnoticed can a photographer notice?

Everything that for an average eye seem to be just plane normal. There is a treasure underneath. A great photographer is good at digging.

  • What influences the value of a photo? What are its elements?

That depends a lot on the photo. Depending on photographer's approach, any element can become the main subject, despite the obvious.

  • What person can be the symbol of the 21st century in your opinion?

Oh, ask me that again at the end of the 21st century, please.

  • Who do you want to take photos of?

Myself. I don't have any selfies. Seriously!

  • Do you have any professional taboos?

Never shoot people eating on a wedding. It always vexed me how some photographers do that

  • Who would you like to shoot with?

    large format cameras

  • What do you worry about, and why?

I am a Virgo, I worry about everything!

  • What is the most impressive moment in your life?

Every moment is unique and it is impressive in itself.

  • If you were a cartoon, book or movie character, who would you be and why?

The Road Runner, I suppose. Fast, creative, funny

  • Who inspires you in your life and why?

My father. Everything he ever did was impressive. Very hard to keep up with that.

  • How do you define success? How do you measure it?

Beyond the obvious material comfort, it really differs from person to person. For some, is about social acceptance, integration, adulation, power. For others is self achievement, self inner development.

  • Would you rather be liked or respected?

Rather a combination of the two because they are not mutually exclusive, on the contrary.

  • What is the biggest mistake you have ever made at work?

Forgot to secure an expensive flash so a cello player managed to brake it.

  • When you're going to travel, what do you take with you and why?

I am a practical person, I always carry the minimum number of goods with the highest probability of being used.

  • Is there anything among your gadgets that you wish you haven't bought? Why?

Oh no, I am cheap that way. Again, very practical. I do my homework before I buy. It was though , 10 years back, a model of wireless triggers that performed awfully. In my defense, they had good reviews on the net.

  • How do you educate yourself to take better pictures?

Read, experiment, read again, look at other photographers portfolios, experiment again. It is like practicing violin. Several hours a day. Everyday!

  • Whose work has influenced you most as a photographer?

Hard to say, I admire the work of so many great photographers

  • What is the one thing you wish you knew when you started taking photos?

oh, when you start you know nothing so I guess that one thing would be Everything?

  • What do you want to say with your photographs?

  • What motivates you to continue taking pictures?

    People, places, moments.

  • Should your parents have been more or less strict?

I have always been independent so, the narrow minded type of strictness wouldn't have worked for me. Luckily, I did not have that type of family. In my parents house problems were solved reasoning.

  • If you could go back in time, what would you do differently?

oh, that... Well, whatever I would have tried done differently I would have screwed up on something else eventually. You cannot inject experience and wisdom to a youngster. That comes with time.

  • What about life on other planets?

I would really like to document that!

  • Who are your heroes?

The Flash, obviously for the ability of multitasking!

  • Who do you have no respect for?

Rudeness, malicious individuals, racists and the people who put their noses where they don't belong.

    probably never?

    parly. Everyone is different.

Yes, despite the fact I am not trusting people right away. But I give them the benefit of the doubt.

  • Where would you like to live?

    Anywhere in a mild climate.

  • What's the stupidest thing you've ever agreed to do?

To do some really undervalued work

    Most life is after marriage.

  • Do you like dogs or cats?

    I have cats and dogs!
